Welcome to the 2010 Season!

OBH One Day Event
Sunday 29th August 2010

OBHRC would like to thank everyone who competed at the ODE at Shire Lane and the results are here Click here

Photos of the event are available from Catch-it-quick - click here

There was some uncertainty about the time for Liza Hart cross country so she and Melanie Widdows were awarded joint equal first.  Congratulations to them both and the winner of arena two - Lesley Long who was also the winner of the best dressage her arena - a prize kindly sponsored by John and Brian Popkin.

Anna Young won the best dressage prize for arena one.  Chris Edmunds was the winner of the worst dressage but double clear showing remarkable consistency as I think he has won that award before!  Many thanks to our generous landowners Jef Bell and Linda Rogers for allowing the event to go ahead despite the dodgy weather last week but in the end the going was perfect. I hope everyone had a good day and congratulations to those placed in each arena.

The teams qualifying for the London and South East Championships at Ardingly on 16th October will be OBH - Gold; Berkshire County; OBH - Blue; Thames Valley; OBH Red and Wokingham and Bearwood.

More Club Success!

Well done to everyone competing at the L&SE ODE Qualifiers at Shire Lane.  Both the OBH Gold, OBH Blue & OBH Red teams qualified for the finals - Ros Morris; Ellie Rose. Jillie Luff; Ruth Browning; Angela Miles; Maria Sapwell; Susie McTavish; Louise Atkins; Malcolm Angell; Hannah Priest; George Luff; Christian Schwetz and Zoe Gray

Thanks also to all the members of both our club and other clubs who helped run the event and in particular to our Chairman Liz O'Donnell who once again organised the whole event and stayed sane (mostly!).

The OBH Riding Club was started in 1948 by members of the Old Berkeley Hunt who wanted to ride together in the summer. Colonel Phipps was a founding member and we still award the Phipps trophy, a very beautiful, mounted hunting horn, to the member accruing the most points throughout the year.

We welcome members from the age of 18 and the club caters for a wide range of disciplines. We run open competitions which anyone can enter, from a showing show through to a one day event, and a series of members shows.

The club offers training at all levels for flatwork, Cross Country and Show Jumping. We encourage a social aspect to the club as well, with an annual quiz and sometimes a BBQ at the members’ events, while people wait for results. The OBHRC is affiliated to the BHS via British Riding Clubs. We send teams to all sorts and levels of qualifiers, drawn from whoever is interested. If you would like to have a go at any team competition, BRC or otherwise, please let us know.

The club affiliation also gives you a BRC membership number and entitles you to Rider magazine, a national championship structure in several disciplines, easy access to advice and information, third party insurance at club events and various discounts.

Please join us whatever you want to do! (Click here for membership application.) We are a friendly club and want to encourage members to participate in training, competitions and teams at all levels.
